Barely heard over the Boom, Boom, Pow!
of the bar room's bass
the West End girls begin their nightly chant
whispering
"You belong with me," and
"I love it when you call."
Sailor boys barely out of boyhood bunks
stand hypnotized by their abalone eyes
while wandering down the boardwalk
where they once rode coasters with their Dads
and fished off the pier,
to search for unrequited love in the arms of strangers.
For this first day of the Read, Write Poem poetry writing challenge we were encouraged to write a poem using the first 5 song titles that appeared when we "shuffled" our MP3 players. These songs were on my husband's Itunes (don't ask me why):
Boom, Boom, Pow
You Belong With Me
West End Girls
Hypnotized
I Love it When You Call
