At the Science Museum
they turn the people inside out
like origami,
slicing bodies into sheets of
femur,
spleen,
lobe,
sacrum,
ileum,
cranium,
axon,
retina,
trachea,
urethra,
and all the other bits,
splayed
in silent
sacrifice
for
children on
school field trips.

Yes, splayed in silent sacrifice--great line! All in the name of science...
ReplyDeleteThat last line definitely delivered the cutting edge to this piece.
